About
Welcome to Return On Now
Real-time. That seems to be the theme for everything related to the Net Generation, and it permeates all the buzz and media as we enter the second decade of this century. The younger population has been referred to by many labels — Generation Now, NetGeners, the Social Generation to name a few — but one thing is consistent. They have never known a world without technology, the Internet, and immediate gratification through electronic means.
When I first launched Return On Now in 2009, my intent was to focus heavily on a range of topics related to social media, marketing, and entrepreneurship. Those are most certainly still topics that I hold near and dear to my heart, but there is something bigger at play. There are sociological changes afoot. Resulting from the rapid pace of advancement and new technologies, we are facing what looks to be the biggest generational gap in history. The younger sect of our population operates differently than the Baby Boomers, and to a lesser degree, Generation X.
Things have changed. Things are changing. Things will continue changing. We have to adapt or be left behind. This is a blog about how we can all operate in a real-time everything world. It’s about how we can make the most of our new communications media for personal, professional, and business gain. And it’s about what is happening to relationships as our reach and voice are evolving before our very eyes. In that capacity, you will see a variety of topics, and not just business and social media focused. Anything that relates to real-time…including subjects such as fantasy sports, mobility, and even simpler technologies that may not be cutting edge, but are still relevant nonetheless.
Come along for the ride, and I’m sure you will not be disappointed.

I finally found a site that speaks to me. I am baby boomer in a virtual world. I am the Practice Education Marketer. Boss says; “Get us on FB, Twitter etc…..” we are on those sites but now what? And Constant Contact?
I want to start a blog for the company— what is the goal of a Blog?
My goal for Constant Contact is our newsletter. Best way to get our word out and stay “green’? Yes?
Sure I can say we are on FB and Twitter and Constant Contact and a Blog. But so what and now what?
Thanks
Hi Donna,
Thanks for your comment. I completely understand and have had many colleagues express the same concerns. It is quite true that things simply do not work the way they did 20-30 years ago, but in much the same manner that we had to master the “old way” of doing things, we need to do our homework to figure out how to best use these new tools.
